William Halford Rivers (1897-1936).

William was born to William and Celia Ann Rivers (nee Fairweather) in Altrincham, Cheshire, England in 1897.

William grew up with his family at 52 Hall Road in Sale, Manchester.

In 1911, the family were living at Hillside on the Cartmell Road in St. Anne's on Sea, Lancashire. On the census, it shows that William was still at School.

William served with the Royal Army Medical Corps as a Private (regimental number 217) during the Great War. The theatre of war he first served in was France on 25th December 1914. He was awarded the British, Victory and Star medals. He was discharged on the 29th September 1919.

In 1921, William married Ruby Deal (born 1894, Tendring, Essex) in Tendring, Essex. The couple had 2 children, Beryl and Raymond.

On the 28th May 1936, William passed away in Thorpe-Le-Soken, Essex, aged 38 years. He had been living at Oakley House in Clacton. He left £500.00 to his wife Ruby and his daughter Beryl.
